Tab Benoit Celebrates ‘I Hear Thunder’ Release With Anders Osborne at Saint Rocke in Hermosa, CA
If Hollywood ever decides to remake Mad Max, swamp rock dynamo Tab Benoit is the artist that should play in the concert scene. His two-hour sellout concert at Cohoes Music Hall Thursday night (October 28th) was post-Apocalyptic.
Tab Benoit packed the house last night and boy was he happy to be playing live music. The Fort Collins crowd welcomed him and his band with open arms and hearts.
Johansen played for about 35 minutes, closing down his set list-free set with the title cut off his debut release “Burn it Down” that was released this fall on Benoit’s label.
A rare break came in the form of Osborne’s reggae-tinged “Got Your Heart” from 2010’s American Patchwork and the Cajun-bred “We Make a Good Gumbo.” The set included stops on both artist’s latest releases – “Real Good Dirt” from Osborne’s “Picasso’s Villa” and Benoit’s “Why, Why” from his upcoming I Hear Thunder
“I consider myself a live artist, not a recording artist,” the Louisiana blues guitarist told the audience at The Birchmere last week. A native of Baton Rouge currently residing outside of New Orleans, Benoit's playing has earned well-deserved comparisons to iconic virtuosos like Albert King and Albert Collins.
