Atheist is a death metal band from Florida, USA, founded in 1984 by vocalist/guitarist Kelly Shaefer, guitarist Rand Burkey, bassist Roger Patterson, and drummer Steve Flynn. The band is known for their technical playing style. Their album Unquestionable Presence (1991) is regarded as a landmark of the death metal genre.

While the former have made a dent in Glasgow on previous UK tours, this marks ATHEIST‘s debut appearance in Scotland and first UK show since 2010.
Still many simply never believed they would get a chance to see the technical death metal pioneers and were content to simply take the show for whatever it turned out to be.
