Athlete are an indie rock band which formed in 1999 in Deptford, London, England. The band consists of Joel Pott (vocals, guitar), Carey Willets (bass, vocals), Tim Wanstall (keyboards), and Steve Roberts (drums).
Not only did they win the Ivor Novello Award in 2006, but they have been nominated for the Mercury Music Prize, and have continuously held a reputable presence on the UK music charts.
Stay at home and miss Athlete? No chance! The Civic Halls have moved the box office yet again, so the guest-list is inside the Wulfrun and not in the Little Civic where it used to be.
Professing their love of Glasgow Athlete certainly get the crowd on their side for their first outing at the Barrowlands but despite the adoring crowd there's not the sense of occasion that you can often find here.
