Sadly, this gig plays out against a backdrop of rail and Tube strikes, making it difficult for many fans to get to this part of South London, even from North London, let alone anywhere further afield.

Unlike many of their contemporaries Bauhaus never chose to join any retro circuit, unquestionable integrity, playing their own game and by their own rules. Like any truly great art form the real deal will always shine through.

The physical location for tonight’s Bauhaus gig is a short walk from Spandau’s old town and has recently been subject to various online discussions.

Peter Murphy, Daniel Ash, David J and Kevin Haskins should be forgiven then for having a sense of deja vu as they prepare to take to the stage at Brixton Academy.
