Westwards, to Nell's Jazz and Blues Club in West Kensington, which keeps the relatively underserved West side of Central London on the gigging venue roster.
The Broken Witt Rebels brought their unique blend of heavy blues, high energy rock, southern soul and Americana to north London last Tuesday, during a tour for their debut album which they've just released.
The Roadstars tour finished last night at the Borderline and the newly refurbished dive was packed to the gunnels for two bands who have been busy building a reputation as dynamite live.
Thursday at Proud in Camden saw them headlining over the Kris Barras band – a Blues favourite of mine – and showing how complete they are as a band drawing a packed crowd of their own to this intimate and well sorted space.
From the opening chords of ‘Low’ they had the crowd bouncing along to the music and Danny Core’s impassioned and raw vocals pealed out into the club like an acid bath washing away all memories of other bands.
One of the more promising from the current crop of UK rock bands, Broken Witt Rebels, has recently been taking their own ‘baby steps’ upon this well-trodden path to glory.
