Folk-Rock Walian Bryde Returns To Cardiff For Bracing Live Show
The Bodega has long been one of my favourite venues – maybe the best of the ‘room-above-a-pub/bar’ variety; I can’t think of a venue with less of a barrier between band and audience – the bands playing metre from the crowd on a one-foot stage. It’s as far from the O2 arena as I can imagine and in a good way.
Almost two years in the making, this Bryde tour, like much of life, had to be postponed back in 2020. The focus of these shows was going to be the promotion of The Volume of Things, released to high acclaim in May of that year.
Eyes closed, singer-songwriter Sarah Howells appears as if she is under the control of some malevolent force, manipulating her movements as she’s unceremoniously distorted by the potency of this collection of new songs.
