Buck Meek brought an intimate performance to Motorco Music Hall on Thursday night. Jolie Holland opened for him with a similarly enchanting aura. Holland kicked off the show by asking for lighting that would resemble the lighting of a reptile tank, which established the perfect atmosphere for her set.
Buck Meek wasn’t quite satisfied with “Didn’t Know You Then.” After the Big Thief guitarist and his band finished the song, he brightly asked, “Can we play that again, but a half-step higher?” He laughed, joking that he wanted to compare/contrast the two versions, before dismissing the idea.
Buck Meek is best known as the guitarist and harmony vocalist for the band Big Thief, but he also makes excellent records of his own. On Friday evening, he appeared with his band at Vienna's Jammin' Java for an intimate performance.
