Caetano Veloso (born 7 August 1942) is one of the most popular and influential Brazilian composers and singers. He was born in Santo Amaro da Purificacao, Bahia, Brasil, the fifth of the seven children born to Jose Telles Veloso ("Seu Zezinho") and Claudionor Vianna Telles Veloso ("Dona Cano").

Gil seems more direct and grounded (his voice at times reminded me of Nina Simone in its deep tenderness) while Veloso is a sprite, more androgynous, sometimes perverse
That London is one of the chosen dates should also have special significance as it was their chosen destination for exile in 1971 after being incarcerated during Brazil’s brutal dictatorship.
