A tour commemorating the 20th anniversary of their landmark 'Feast Of Wire' album, the core of Calexico – guitarist-vocalist Joey Burns and drummer John Convertino, along with the more than able supporting players – performed that album nearly in entirety, the songs not played live presented as pre-recorded cues.
They choose their support bands with care, always willing to support different artists, who complement their music. From Lima, Peru we had the wonderful man and wife duo Alejandro y Maria Laura and in London only: the all-female mariachi band Mariachi Las Adelitas. Could not have been more perfect.
Its a cold November night as I take the trip over to Manchester to catch Calexico and Iron & Wine on their Years To Burn tour, a tour which has taken them across Europe and North America stretching 48 shows since June this year.
