Bio
Carl Ashley Raphael Barat (born June 6, 1978) was co-frontman of punk and indie rock revivalists The Libertines with Peter Doherty. He was also the frontman and lead guitarist in the band Dirty Pretty Things.
The longevity of The Libertines was always a bone of contention. Having split up in 2004, both Barat and Doherty moved on to several new bands and solo projects.
No sooner had he put together new band the Jackals (selected from auditions after advertising on Facebook) than the whole Pete Doherty/The Libertines saga sparked off again.
In between lies a story familiar to many a famous band member who tried to do something on their own: a solo album that limped into the charts at 52 and an audience expecting the old hits.
