In a commendable move from tonight's headliners, Dappled Cities, the two supports on offer are newer bands working within the Sydney scene rather than 2000s weekend warriors enlisted for a cheap nostalgia hit.
It's that surreal side of things that leads the audience to their seats (4 June) – unquestionably the first time either has done a seated performance – to bear witness to this fascinating phenomena of full-circle 2000s indie glory.
Despite the sparsely populated room Ali showed effortless poise and a level of elegance as her ringing voice delivered a number of tracks including the beautiful ‘Run You Down’ which has garnered her recognition on local airwaves.
The mixing of two far-from-close genres Dappled Cities infectious Indie rock anthems and Baroque a genre that developed in the 1600’s with players such as Vivaldi Bach and Handel.
Tonight however not only was the band playing on my old uni campus but they seemed to be in fine form going off all the previous reviews I’d read of the tour so far.
