Dave Dobbyn (born January 3, 1957) is a New Zealand award-winning musician, singer-songwriter and record producer. In his early career he was a member of rock group Th' Dudes and the main creative force in popsters DD Smash; since then has released the majority of his recordings as a solo act.

Some years ago, English auteurs Magazine produced an album titled “Magic, Murder, and The Weather”, and these, in greater and lesser quantities, were supplied to the crowd gathered in Havelock North's spectacular Black Barn Amphitheatre on a sultry summer evening.
When Dave Dobbyn walks onto the stage there is a mood of triumph in the Spark Cauldron. The opening song, the old DD Smash anthem Outlook for Thursday. The band immediately locks in and rocks out. Horns, and the keyboards sounding like bagpipes.
New Zealand currently sits in the very fortunate position of being able to live life to the fullest at the moment, despite the global pandemic ravaging the world. However, with no major international acts coming through, large venues such as Spark Arena have had to rethink their game plans.
