Acts such as Foals Everything Everything and Delphic are increasingly successful but seem to my ears at least on record to be neither fish nor fowl.
An indie-electro band, they were a great choice to open for Delphic. With great vocal harmonies, reminding me a little of Hot Chip, combined with funky 70s-inspired guitar riffs, it quickly becomes clear that these guys are talented musicians.
But for all the BBC Sound of the Year shortlists UK Music Video Award nominations and glowing AUreview album reviews there’s always that nagging doubt that maybe just maybe Delphic wouldn’t up to the hype in a setting.

Not classic ‘Brotherhood'-era New Order – the processed rock of ‘Get Ready' would be a better reference point for ‘This Momentary' and ‘Doubt', their two standout songs – but their fellow Mancunians are a fine band to emulate nonetheless.
The band's debut album Acolyte is more than a nostalgic nod to their home town's illustrious dance past: it's an agenda-setting dare to contemporaries to hitch their guitars to the nearest drum machine.
The smell of fresh paint filled the newly opened venue and there appeared to be a steady stream of custom both in the main bar area and in the intimate venue downstairs.
