On a perfectly cool spring evening (19 September), our once-local Emma Louise played Brisbane’s The Tivoli Theatre to a packed room full of old friends and acquaintances.

Emma Louise immediately had us in awe.

Friday night’s show at Sydney’s Metro Theatre saw the artist – who is on the road celebrating the release of the brilliant record Supercry – start to wind down from a run of shows that’s seen her traverse the country over the last month.

That, and the typically spartan attendance associated with being at the front end of a three-act line-up.

First up was Patrick James.

Like many the young songstress from Brisbane first came to my attention with her track “Jungle” but it was actually her duet with Lior covering Crowded House’s “It’s Only Natural” that really won me over.

Tonight was no exception, with a musical line-up equivalent to a YouTube video of little puppies doing all the cute things.
