HERE Outernet, November 3: The LA producer and filmmaker shows his supreme versatility at a special London show
Flying Lotus is an artist I first came across while working as the Underground Music Director for WKNC this Summer. I ended up loving his latest album “Yasuke” and added a bunch of his songs to the rotation, so when I found out he was performing at Hopscotch I couldn’t wait.
There are few live music experiences where you are handed a pair of 3D glasses upon entering a venue, but last night Auckland finally had the pleasure of witnessing Flying Lotus perform his visual extravaganza 3D show which promised to deliver an experience like no other but ultimately delivered so much more.
After a five year break between releases, during which he released a polarising feature film, Flying Lotus (real name Stephen Ellison) finally reacquainted himself to fans with the album Flamagra. Ever one to place visuals central to the musical experience, he has returned to Aussie shores with a new 3D live show.
