Launching into a surf rock-inflected, spoken word intro that had France yelling out you got to reach your hand out to the lord, brothers and sisters, Foxygen moved in to their 2013 hit San Francisco to the crowd's pleasure.
All the gear, interpersonal dynamics, expenses, expectations and temptations that come with busting out with a hot record, as the Los Angeles band did in 2013, can be a slog.
Doing their best to subvert all expectations Foxygen decided to expand further: the band is now a nine-piece including a trio of backup singers straight out of an '80s workout video.
