Its reasons are many, but not least because an artist has all their life to write and record a debut but only a few short years for a follow-up.
It was one of those shows where six months from now you can casually drop in a conversation that you saw Twin Shadow and Glasser play this tiny show like it's NBD.
The stage was minimalistic with a percussion center off to the right and a lone TV that displayed the visualizer images being projected on the stage’s backdrop.
I previously saw Empress Of last CMJ, during her first show ever, over at 285 Kent. This time she had a more polished and fuller sound that already shows even more growth and promise for the talented young Lorely Rodriguez.
This was an evening of mood lighting, hushed admiration and space-age attire, welcoming a selection of celebrity fans (well, Twitter told me the xx and Little Boots were there but I never know what these mu.
