I meet with a small army of black tees and battle jackets, who are out for a little neck wrecking at Brisbane's The Triffid (28 July).
Sure, it was a Sunday night and the headliner didn’t go on until midnight leading to a super slow moving morning for me today, but it was all worth it.
Last time they were here I had skipped watching their performance to get something to eat, so I felt obligated to go and check out what exactly it was that everyone was freaking out about.
NOLA’s finest Satanic quartet, alongside the punk-ified headbangers in Black Breath and Ringworm as well as the upstart grinders in Theories…this tour had beer tinged sweaty goodness written all over it from the start.
Despite still being derivative in spots (see Dark Tranquillity, among others), the melodic death/symphonic black metal crew upped their game considerably from previous occasions this reviewer had caught them.
