These aren’t the rock and roll covers you’ll hear on fancy new car advertisements on the TV. Hayseed Dixie take classic rock, get it drunk on homemade alcohol, spin it around a few times and then unleash it in a firestorm of acoustic guitars, mandolin and banjo.
Ed, looking every bit like the slender punk of the 1970s, gave a fabulous warm-up performance drawing on the full range of his musical and acting talent.
The speed and accuracy with which their fingers burnt across the frets was spectacle enough in itself and the extended guitar banjo and violin solos continually left the crowd in awe.
On a dank Wednesday night all is quiet in the centre of Kidderminster – except at 45 Live, which is packed to the rafters with people bouncing around to the sounds of hillbilly rock tribute act Hayseed Dixie, writes Peter Carroll.
