Helmet are a rock band formed in New York City in 1989 by founding members Page Hamilton (guitar/vocals), Henry Bogdan (bass), Peter Mengede (guitar) and John Stanier (drums). They are known for their frequent use of drop d tuning.
Helmet finally made it back to Aotearoa/New Zealand on a tour postponed from 2019 by you know what, to present an evening of thinking person’s heavy music aka hardcore, punk and metal.
Originally New Zealand was meant to be on the cards for 2020 until a certain pandemic got in the way so Helmet's 30th Anniversary Tour had to be canned.
A thick cloud of anticipation hovers in the air. Tonight is the night that we all get to take a trip back in time to the mid 90's as we hear Helmet play their third album entitled ‘Betty' in its entirety.
