After a month of Summer Sounds Festival performances ranging across rock, dance, nostalgia, and more, it was fitting that the grand finale would take a time-travelling romp through the best music of the last 70 years.

Off the back of the 2015 Groovin’ The Moo festivals, DJ Tom Loud’s Hot Dub Time Machine had Brisbanites swept up in a frenzy on Saturday night (23 May), as they boogied their way through pop music history as part of the world’s first-ever ‘time-travelling dance party’.

The song choice was great but the stage presence a little cheesy and overly excited, especially when he yelled, “I want you all to party like it’s the last Thursday of the week!” It was all just a little bit unnecessary.

After a quiet winter, Perth has kicked off a return full-scale live events with a party for (and through) the ages.

Bringing out the big guns, Hot Dub Time Machine had the Ice Cream Factory at melting point with a scorching performance last Friday.
