How to Dress Well is the stage name of ethereal R&B songwriter and producer Tom Krell. Krell's burgeoning career began in 2009 when, having just moved from Brooklyn to Berlin, his songs began to emerge online via a hugely prolific string of free, digital EPs posted in anonymity on his blog.
Openers Ex Reyes featured two members of the How to Dress Well band including frontman Mikey Freedom Hart (who would later serve as a multi-instrumentalist for Tom Krell).
How to Dress Well‘s show last night at the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art wasn’t exactly a homecoming like his performance at Lincoln Hall earlier this year — they’ve still got miles and miles of tour left to go — but it still felt familiar.
With two weeks to go before the album surfaces Krell enjoyed his time amongst friends publicists and writers as he performed new material alongside old fare such as Cold Nites and Suicide Dream 1.
