Accompanied by three guitarists a drummer and a pianist/keyboardist the group rocked with well-known hits and new singles at Somerset House last night.
This legacy continues into the present day thanks to the recent rekindling of another prestigious relationship with former Beautiful South songstress Jacqui Abbott.
Even in their Beautiful South heyday when singles Rotterdam and Don’t Marry Her were hugely popular Top 10 hits they stood out like sore thumbs next to their Britpop contemporaries and gained an unfair reputation for making music your mum liked.
Yet see past this unpromising exterior and it is difficult to dispute the fact he has been one of British pop's most routinely underrated figures of the last three decades.
Throughout their 19-year-long career The Beautiful South morphed through a number of different guises with three different female soloists including Briana Corrigan and Alison Wheeler enacting the band’s his and hers kitchen-sink musical dramas.
