John Paul White opined with a glint in his eyes that his songs were not of the uplifting variety. In fact, they were downright dark.
Appropriately enough, ‘Ol' 55′ was playing on the intro' tape as John Paul White prepared to take the the stage at a near- full Islington Assembly Hall, unusually set in an all seated configuration.
John Paul White entitled his new disc, The Hurting Kind. But there is no hurting of any sort on White's performance~well maybe only when considering the subject matter~showcasing his vocals and a bevy of quality songs.
John Paul White admitted to feeling a little uncomfortable with his current solo acoustic tour. However, with just two guitars and a microphone, White sounded a whole lot better than he likely felt.
It was a sold out show for John Paul White's first visit to Glasgow since the collapse of the Grammy award winning The Civil Wars, an episode mired in some mystery as he and Joy Williams imploded.
