Twenty years ago, the jam band scene was a bustling place with bands like Widespread Panic, String Cheese Incident, moe. and Phish going strong while the newer wave of jamtronica acts like the Disco Biscuits, Sound Tribe Sector 9 and Lotus were quickly gaining steam.
Williams did all this at City Winery NYC. Williams' musical inclinations were informed by and rooted in several rural American styles, especially vintage folk and bluegrass, but also by alternative rock, jazz and experimental music. At times Williams appeared to be more of a musical scientist than an entertainer.
Skyloft is the newest music venue to the Albany area, which opened this past spring and is located in the Crossgates Mall. It's an impressive concert space that since opening has hosted diverse musical acts of all genres.
On the docket at the South Street was acoustic guitar wielding Keller Williams with his brand new project KWahtro along with the bluegrass group Cabinet.
