Heavy metal is, in fact, alive and well. And thanks to King Diamond, it’s also bombastic, over-the-top, theatrical, technically proficient, and just what St. Louis needed on a spooky Saturday night prior to Halloween.
On a blustery Portland, Oregon night with with the gorging of Thanksgiving creeping its head around the door, it felt like an appropriate time to savor a performance from one of heavy metals most legendary acts.
Its not hard to pinpoint the brilliant musical success of King Diamond that has surrounded him as a solo artist throughout the last twenty plus years. A success that has been nothing short of stella.
