L7 is a rock band founded in Los Angeles, California, first active from 1985 to 2001 and re-formed in 2014. Their longest standing line-up consists of Suzi Gardner (vocals, guitar), Donita Sparks (vocals, guitar), Dee Plakas (drums, vocals) and Jennifer Finch (bass, vocals).
Currently commemorating the 2022 30th anniversary of their third album, 'Bricks Are Heavy', the 'original', and most prominent incarnation of L7 reconvened in 2014 following a near 15-year hiatus.
L7 returned to Auckland’s Powerstation after having first (and last) performed there in 1992. The 13th Floor’s Simon Coffey and Brenna Jo Gotje were on the scene: L7 formed in 1985 in Los Angeles, associated with grunge, but in reality, they are a synthesis of art punk, hardcore and metal
Often mis-categorised as part of the ‘grunge' era of the early 90s, L7's career has spanned over four decades. Formed in east Los Angeles in 1985 after mutual friends introduced Donita Sparks (vocals, guitar) and Suzi Gardner (guitar, vocals) came together over a shared desire to play loud rock music.
