The fragile ballads of previous years are all but gone, and Gardot’s hard-rocking got everyone dancing
Her walking stick and shades (the result of a bad accident in 2003) only add to the initial feeling that she is the spiritual heir if not the actual misbegotten daughter of a figure like Dr John the Night Tripper.
The crowd were distinctly not amused by being made towait nearly 40 minutes after the 24-year-old chanteuse was due tostart at which point she finally deigned to put in an appearance.
