Ocean Alley is a modern reggae fusion group from the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia. The band is made up of Baden Donegal (vocals, guitar), Angus Goodwin (lead guitar), Lach Galbraith (keyboard, vocals), Mitch Galbraith (guitar), Nic Blom (bass) and Tom O'Brien (drums).
When this scribe mentioned in passing to his sister that he was going to see Ocean Alley, she replied “all their songs sound the same”. To those familiar with the Northern Beaches six-piece that’s not quite true, but it is one challenge with their live shows.
Ocean Alley performed at a sold-out Spark Arena last night, pacifying and uniting the audience with their distinctly psychedelic alt-rock sound and featuring solid support by surf-rock openers, Hockey Dad.
Warmed up by support acts Dulcie and Hockey Dad, ticket holders at Ocean Alley's first of two shows at The Riverstage (9 February), sang along with great gusto to Spacey Jane's 'Booster Seat' as it played over the PA
On a rainy Saturday evening (12 December), stragglers (including yours truly) raced from parked cars or their Uber-style transport to NightQuarter Live to get out of the wet and join their music loving brethren already gathered inside, for a night with Ocean Alley.
