Protomartyr, who now hold the mantle of ‘Detroit's finest band' (a title once held by The Stooges, no less), have been one of the most consistent rock outfits of the past decade.
The signs are pretty unmistakable, from the tightness and apparent speed of the songs played, through to the movements of the performers, who are often a little feral or subdued, with exhaustion or relief.
It may have taken Protomartyr nearly ten years to make their way down to this side of the world, but for the fans who had managed to nab a ticket to the sold out show at Whammy on Wednesday night it was well worth the wait.
