Scott Richard Weiland (ne Kline, October 27, 1967 - December 3, 2015) was an American musician, singer and songwriter. During a career spanning three decades, Weiland was best known as the lead singer of the band Stone Temple Pilots from 1989 to 2002 and 2008 to 2013, making six records with them.
The singer broke through as the Eddie Vedder-looking frontman for Stone Temple Pilots in the early nineties grunge era but drug abuse and problems with the law led to the band’s break-up following 2001’s Shangri-la Dee Da.
After watching him perform it all on Thursday in Santa Ana, I immediately came up with a moniker for the live incarnation: The Most Bizarre Concert of 2011.
