Serj Tankian (born August 21, 1967 in Beirut, Lebanon) is an Armenian-American singer. He started as a singer in the alternative metal band System of A Down and after they went on hiatus he continued his career as a solo artist and producer.
The sweaty masses packed into the ABC roar with approval as Tankian and his band the Flying Cunts of Chaos launch into an incendiary version of the fab four's Girl.
With the timing of this rescheduled show, tonight also doubles up as a warm-up for Mr Tankian’s performance at Reading and Leeds this weekend, giving us Midlanders something of a sneak peak of what the bigger crowds will be treated to.
In every sense, this was an epic production which presented the CSO with the challenge of extending itself well beyond its comfort zone to perform on an equal footing with a man and his music possessing such explosive energy.
