Sinkane Brings Music of The World For National Sawdust
Enter Sinkane, AKA shapeshifting, London-born, Sudanese-raised, Brooklyn resident Ahmad Gallab, whose eclectic, electro-funk jams are created with the sole purpose of lifting the spirit and celebrating life.
New York City’s Sinkane were here earlier this year opening for Hot Chip at the Danforth Music Hall. Their groovy Spiritualized with hints of afrobeat instantly hit all my right heart strings.
Their brief set in June was almost like foreplay before their thoroughly impressive full 75 minute set at the Drake H
Born in London to Sudanese academics, Sinkane has navigated between his parents’ homeland, Britain and America and makes music that is as pleasingly resistant to categorization as one might expect of such a well-traveled citizen of the world.
