Ben Chasny is proof you don’t need a lavish spectacle to play an incredible concert. His setup and stage presentation is barebones and spartan even from a folk standpoint, playing a spellbinding set of trancy originals and rootsy covers with nothing more than a single acoustic guitar and a microphone.
The atmosphere suits Fabrizio Palumbo whose Labradford-esque guitar lines and soporific beats overlaid with unearthly processed vocals repay the attentiveness of the crowd.
Chasny made his name playing with a number of acts, including psych-rock behemoths Comets on Fire, acoustic two-piece New Bums and underground supergroup Rangda.
