It could be said that the much-anticipated Kylie and Jason reunion was sacrificed to the rock gods for the sake of this weekend’s Hard Rock Calling festival.
Soundgarden, with its (almost) original line-up of Chris Cornell, Kim Thayil, Ben Shepherd and Matt Cameron, hit the stage at Luna Park’s Big Top on Thursday night (26 February) to a packed and rapturous crowd.
Hitting our shores for the huge Soundwave festival, Chris Cornell, Ben Shepherd, Kim Thayil and Matt Cameron waved as two spotlights lit them up for the opening number, 1988’s Incessant Mace.
Grunge pioneers Soundgarden delivered a powerful performance without much in the way of frills or showmanship, putting all of the focus on their musical chops.
