The ongoing project of Welshman Ali Lacey, Novo Amor began sharing his shimmering, Bon Iver-esque folk in 2012, and since then has released two EPs and a 2017 LP,; , co-written with friend and fellow songwriter Ed Tullett.
Tonight’s show at the Barbican however saw her perform her own songs, specifically those from last year’s Music For People In Trouble album, alongside visuals projected onto a screen in front of her and her band.
Murder Ballads may have been my entry point, but I much preferred the chaotic clamor of Tender Prey and the melodic tension that ran through The Good Son.
