Bio
The Band of Heathens are an Americana band from Austin, Texas. The three principal songwriters - Colin Brooks, Ed Jurdi and Gordy Quist - shared the bill at Momo's, an Austin club.
After the taping, group co-founder Gordy Quist caught Ron Sexsmith's main stage show at New York's City Winery. Quist was told the venue has its own instruments for bands to use, allowing them to cut down touring costs.
Coming from one of America's great musical cities, Austin, Texas, The Band of Heathens played on New Year's Eve at Hill Country BBQ. Formed in 2008, the BoH mixes Americana influences with roots rock.
The five-member Band of Heathens filled the main room at Hill Country Live on 7th Street and rocked a small but enthusiastic crowd into 2019. The Austin-based group performed songs from their five studio albums as well as the singles “Carry Your Love” and “Dc 9,” which in an alternate universe would be Billboard hits.
Walking into Friday night's show at The Venue Shrine in Tulsa, I confess, I didn't know how the night would go. Although The Damn Quails and The Band of Heathens are both bands I've heard of and even follow on social media, I've never had the opportunity to see them live and didn't know what to expect.
