The Gloaming is a contemporary Irish/American music group formed in 2011 comprising fiddle player Martin Hayes, guitarist Dennis Cahill, vocalist Iarla o Lionaird, fiddle player Caoimhin o Raghallaigh, and pianist and producer Thomas Bartlett (aka Doveman). The five came together to explore new music at Grouse Lodge Studios is West Meath in early 2011.
The Gloaming are a five-piece Irish supergroup (although two of them are American) including Gaelic singer Iarla o Lionaird (of Afro-Celt Sound System) and County Clare fiddler Martin Hayes.
An Irish-American five‑piece of distinguished but very different musicians they mix tradition with experimentation and are better suited to the concert circuit than clubs or festivals.
