On my previous visits to the compact venue perched precariously in the apex of the Institute’s innards, I have found that the “doors open” time quoted on the ticket is by no means an accurate indication as to when the first note will be played.
The London-based rock’n’roll garage band influenced by the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis The Sonics and MC5 are far from being just reverential revivalists tearing up their 50s roots with raw power and tongue-in-cheek menace.
A conspicuousthrowback dealing unapologetically and exclusively in high-octanegarage rock it’s fair to say they’re not exactly a prospect ofeyebrow raising nuance and subtlety.
Jim Jones met Rupert Orton and through their love of the roots of rock and roll, got together a band of brothers and formed The Jim Jones Revue, recording their 2008 self-titled debut album in just 48 hours.
I decided to wave goodbye to freedom with a last hurrah and what better way to bid it adieu but with a Kim and Jim gig at the corner? Kim Salmon’s gig left many people scratching their head and wondering what it was they’d just seen.
