Thankfully for us John MacLean and Marcus Marr agree with us and this week’s The Juan MacLean show at the Nectar Lounge was a pretty fantastic way to kick off another year of live entertainment.
One of New York’s brightest lights in modern electronic music, The Juan Maclean, came wrapped up in a perfect box via Fenway Recording Sessions at Brighton Music Hall.
Along with brain child John Maclean, The Juan Maclean includes singer Nancy Whang (of LCD Soundsystem), keyboardist Monika Heidemann (who opened the show under her solo-moniker, Heidemann).
But while rainbow flags and strutting in the streets might be a very visible display of gay identity in 2010, across town in Silver Lake Junction, a more melodic celebration was taking place.
