Cult icons The Residents brought career-spanning set to Austin on Easter
IT’S not every day The Residents are resident in Scotland – in fact, many of the gathered acolytes were receiving their first dose of one of the ultimate enigmatic cult bands in popular (and sometimes unpopular) music.
From the moment the four members walked on to a fairly minimal stage setup of keyboards, guitar, electronic drums and a spherical projection screen, their costumes immediately erased all identification with humanity.
The non-traditionalist guitarist plays a mix of avant-garde- and flamenco-influenced acoustic jazz, with a fascinating focus on percussive performance.
