The duo's vast sonic canvases, here expanded with a 16-piece ensemble, are ambitious and cinematic but need focus
Spilling out into the far corners of the Barbican with choirs orchestras and pianos with PhDs the very definition of the band playing on a grand scale.
For fans aware of the band's meticulousness this wouldn't come as a surprise: such unwavering dedication to finding the right sound is what makes them such a rare act.
After two peerless if wholly bewildering albums in Hidden and Field Of Reeds and judging by their acclaimed Bush Hall and Barbican performances of Hidden three years ago it seemed the band could do no wrong.
One suspects that if Jack Barnett had his way, Heaven's dressing rooms would currently be occupied by a Harris hawk, frittering away the hours between soundcheck and showtime by angrily flexing its talons and staring hungrily at the bar staff.
