Chamber pop outfit Tindersticks arrived at the Royal Festival Hall in London midway through their 18-date European spring tour celebrating their 30th anniversary. The acoustically enhanced all-seater RFH seemed the perfect setting for a band with such an ‘orchestral’ palette.
This was the only UK show of a tour that sees the Europhiles playing all over France and the rest of Europe before returning for a handful of shows in May.
Reverence can damage gigs, and for some fans who weren’t just speculative festival goers at Tindersticks’ Brighton Festival show, the need to treat their idols like demi-gods occasionally spoiled things, even letting the band off the hook at points.
Outside the Dome Concert Hall the start of the Brighton Festival is in full swing with a proliferation of tents parades and shiny happy tourists drinking in the sun.
