Voxtrot

Voxtrot’s first show in New York (and anywhere on planet earth not counting a secret warm-up show the other night in their hometown of Austin) in 12 years (!) was, in direct contrast to the above show, an unmitigated triumph.

I had mentally prepared for Voxrot’s final show at Bowery Ballroom for weeks, yet it didn’t quite hit me that Voxtrot would be playing their very last note in a few hours.

For me, I couldn’t think of a better way to kick off the music portion of my trip then to check out Austin’s favorite Smiths influenced band on their home turf.

Show Date: December 4, 2007 When watching Voxtrot play on Tuesday night at Neumo’s, I couldn’t figure out what kind of band they are.

But that gig was postponed because Voxtrot were invited to support Arctic Monkeys on a US tour and the rearranged 5 November date with new line up could only ever be a disappointment.

With their infectious anti love pop music and lead singer’s Ramesh Srivastava heartfelt falsetto vocals the Austin quintet could do no wrong.
