Opening the night was Brisbane rapper Day1, who appeared wearing sunglasses and a loud tracksuit for his first song. An energetic set of bass-heavy trap songs with choppy flows and autotuned hooks compensated for the considerably short but punchy tracks. The crowd sang along to a sample of B.o.B’s “Airplanes”
He is the rising star of the Grime world and last night a capacity Neck of The Woods crowd had the opportunity to not only get up close and personal with the one and only AJ Tracey but with South London rapper Dave who features on Traceys latest collaboration ‘Thiago Silva'.
When Stormzy listed more than 50 grime artists during his iconic Glastonbury set over the summer, AJ Tracey was the first name from his lips. AJ, 25, has been around for a while, but his profile shot up to the next level with his anthem "Ladbroke Grove" this year, and the release of his self-titled album.
