There was a moment in the closing encore ‘Swell Does the Skull', when Aldous Harding sings “I don't want to be a sinner,” that the brain, ever alert for double meanings and enigmatic obliquities, decides that she is really stating “I don't want to be a singer.”

“I wanna be here, but I will do it my way” – that was Aldous Harding’s gentle rebuke to some overexcited moron shouting out nonsense, and that’s precisely what she proceeded to do. For a non-show that relied on quality songs and playing, rather than high energy, this was a strangely unsettling affair as Harding wafted
