By naming its Massey Hall show “Songs Seldom Heard”, Blue Rodeo set certain expectations. Greg Keelor and Jim Cuddy, the two stellar songwriters fronting the band, have penned many songs that are now staples in the CanCon canon.
So nice to finally be here in the summer! shouted Jim Cuddy, noting the band typically ends up in Halifax in less hospitable seasons. (Their most recent visit was this past February.)
Blue Rodeo’s Jim Cuddy joked that the veteran Toronto roots-rock band was trying to catch up with Gordon Lightfoot for playing Massey Hall the most times.
Bringing in an outside act as the marquee weekend-ending attraction is something new for province's annual music industry celebration but in many ways it's a logical extension of its mission.
When I think of a Canadian band the names that pop into mind are The Tragically Hip, Rush, The Guess Who and of course Blue Rodeo!Like The Tragically Hip, Blue Rodeo has an incredibly loyal fan base.
