While Suede fans look forward to a one-off reunion of Britpop's vainglorious purveyors of sleaze, frontman Brett Anderson is busy throwing his trademark moves to a different tune.
It took therefore either enormous self-confidence in his solo material or enormous self-absorption for Brett Anderson to kick off his current mini-tour with a set consisting purely of material from his last three albums.
After the hedonism of the 1990s (all that energetic, drug-fuelled positioning of himself away from Britpop), the 42-year-old is now very much a solo artist and seems more content for it.
Brett Anderson may be playing a nerve-shredding solo debut show but he exudes the slick confidence of a man who is aware he is loved - particularly by the Japanese fan who was queuing outside of tonight's venue at half past six this morning.
