The restless crowd got excited spotting Cobra Starship singer Gabe Saporta up on the balcony in between bands.
By the time the band finally took to the stage, the crowd had whipped themselves up into a frenzy, the girls chanting and singing and the boys play-fighting and running around at the back like kids at a family disco.
These guys weren’t so suited to the gig tonight, so although they played a solid set of whatever it is they called their genre it didn’t go down so well.
The students are an academy full of rabid Fall Out Boy fans champing at the bit and the mentors are support band Cobra Starship whose animated loud entrance alone commands immediate attention.
Despite the amazing line-up hosted at The Hi-Fi (which offered everything a good music venue should) the musicians were unceremoniously robbed of the crowd they no doubt disserved most likely due to last minute change of date.
The Forum Theatre prepared to play host to a night of pop rock as a small crowd of teenagers (and young adults) traded in their umbrellas and Melbourne’s gloomy grey sky for the warmth and perfect starry blue skyscape inside the venue.
