There are fewer things better to me than a singer songwriter alone on stage with their guitar, sharing their stories with the rest of the world. So this past weekend at the Lincoln Theatre in Washington, DC was a treat.
The former Men at Work frontman dipped into '80s pop hits, extensive solo catalog and classic covers for an energetic, well-received evening of entertainment. Review, photos.
The titles of several of his songs were unmistakable, even if previously unheard. On Men at Work songs like “Who Can It Be Now?”and “It's a Mistake,” the titles were repeated again and again in the hook lines.
When a panel voted recently on the best Australian songs of the modern era, three of the top ten were penned by Scots. The Easybeats' “Friday On My Mind” topped the list, co-written by George Young whose brothers Angus and Malcolm were behind the number nine, AC/DC's “It's a Long Way to Rock”.
The former lead singer of Men At Work has struck upon a concept that really connects with his audience and in turn finds him in the midst of a career resurgence.
